This is from the somewhat underrated 1997 album, Maladjusted.

I like these lyrics - Morrissey carting round his soul to whoever will take it. The ultimate snub - even Satan isn't interested.

Musically, it's a rollicking upbeat number with a great catchy central riff.

All in all, a superior Moz track.

Here's the opening track from the new Morrissey album, mischievously leaked on to the interwebs 2 months ahead of official release.

Upon first listen, one is first struck by the unexpected eastern/arabian soundscape. Is this Moz moving in new musical directions? (shudder). Nope. The use of the gimmick becomes immediately apparent as the lyrics unfold - for the 2nd album in a row, Moz has decided to kick proceedings off with a (slightly ambiguous) anti-USA political bent.

Yea, it's another vainglorious, self-contradictory, mid-tempo chugging epic in typical pithy Moz fashion. What were you expecting, the fucken Arctic Monkeys?
